Kayaks, Silence, and Love Letters

Founder Friday

Every Friday, our founder pulls back the curtain and shares something close to her heart—whether it’s a lesson learned, a personal story, or a behind-the-scenes glimpse into our journey. These posts are part inspiration, part reflection, and always written to connect, encourage, and spark conversation. It’s a chance to see some of the “why” behind what we do, straight from the person who started it all.

I wanted to pass along something that’s been inspiring me lately. I stumbled across a podcast interview Tim Ferriss did with Elizabeth Gilbert. You may know her as the author of Eat Pray Love—a book about her life that became a movie in 2006. I did my own “Eat Pray Love” year last year (and my first back in 2001), and honestly, I think I’ve just been living that way ever since.

I hadn’t really followed what Liz was doing until recently, but the interview got a lot of positive feedback and was re-released a few weeks ago. I only have so much free time, but I was intrigued… and it turned out to be exactly what I needed to hear.

I listened right before heading out on a trip with friends to Hesketh Island, outside of Homer. While there, we read, listened, journaled, wrote, and enjoyed nature and silence. I went on a stunning kayaking trip that reminded me of Life of Pi. I came home with a nervous system reset and a renewed appreciation for why I live here.

In the interview, Elizabeth talked about an intentional online community she created through Substack, where each day she writes a letter to Love and from Love. She invites others to do the same and even reads one out loud daily. They’re beautiful, heartfelt, and thought-provoking. I’ve started adding one of her letter readings to my own morning routine, and it’s been such a grounding, uplifting way to start the day.

I wanted to share this because I keep hearing a theme—both in the world and in my conversations with clients—that we could all use more love. And I know that if I want more love in my life, I need to be love.

Thanks for being here,

Christine Sagan
